Watercolor Renderings
The art making process begins with Kimberly's visit to the residence, where she takes photographs of the home from many angles. Back in her studio, Kimberly sketches until she finds the perspective, composition, and colors that will best highlight the features of the home.
After a gestural sketch is penciled in on the watercolor paper, Kimberly begins to lay down watercolor washes. Each wash dries before the next is applied. As the work progresses, Kimberly paints with smaller and smaller brushes to extract details and specifics in the architecture and landscape.
Kimberly's goal is to portray the home with a visual likeness and with an atmosphere that is specific to the environment.
Every watercolor is created with professional lightfast watercolor pigment and Arches Cold Press Watercolor Paper.
